Procurement of automatic Frequency Restoration Reserve (aFRR) in Q2/2019

The Nordic TSOs have decided to increase the number of procurement hours for aFRR to 48 hours per week starting from week 14 2019.

The total volume will be kept at up to 300 MW. The basis for the procurement is the agreed goal for frequency quality level and the TSOs will continue to procure aFRR in the morning and evening hours Monday-Friday where the frequency variations are most challenging.

In addition the TSOs now include dayshift hours as statistics for frequency quality in these hours show more frequency deviations outside of the normal frequency band. A new evaluation will be done for each quarter of the year.

The procurement schedule until week 13 will follow the earlier published information.

Starting from Monday 1 April 2019, aFRR will be procured for the following hours in weeks 14-26 in Central European Time (CET):

Monday   04:00-09:00 20:00-00:00 (9 h)
Tuesday 00:00-01:00 04:00-09:00 20:00-00:00 (10 h)
Wednesday 00:00-01:00 04:00-09:00 20:00-00:00 (10 h)
Thursday 00:00-01:00 04:00-09:00 20:00-00:00 (10 h)
Friday 00:00-01:00 04:00-09:00 20:00-23:00 (9 h)
