Procurement of automatic Frequency Restoration Reserve (aFRR) in Q3/2018
The Nordic TSOs have decided to continue with procurement of a total volume up to 300 MW during weekdays (Monday to Friday) in Q3/2018 (July-September). The basis for the procurement is the targeted frequency quality level and the TSOs will continue to procure aFRR in the morning and evening hours where the frequency variations are most challenging. An evaluation will be done for each quarter of the year.
This year the procurement will continue through the summer without a pause. The procurement schedule until week 26 will follow the earlier published information and from Monday 2 July 2018, aFRR will be procured in the following hours:
- weeks 27-34, morning hours 4:00-8:00 (CET), evening hours 20:00-23:00 (CET)
- weeks 35-39, morning hours 4:00-8:00 (CET), evening hours 18:00-21:00 (CET)
Information about the procurement for Q4/2018 will follow after summer.
The Nordic TSOs have further agreed on a plan to increase aFRR procurement in order to prepare for the new Nordic balancing concept and implementation of ACE (see previous information regarding Plan to increase automatic Frequency Restoration Reserve).
