Örby – Snösätra

Reinforcement of the electricity grid in southern Stockholm

We are planning a new electricity connection between Örby and Snösätra station in Högdalen. This is one of many reinforcements of the Stockholm region's grid being made in order to meet the growing need for electricity.

About Örby – Snösätra

Svenska kraftnät is building a new electricity connection in the south of Stockholm, between Örby and the new substation Snösätra in Högdalen. The reinforcement of the area's electricity grid helps to secure the Stockholm region's electricity supply in the future.

The connection adds to a more stable electricity network in the Stockholm region

The new link is part of the project Stockholm Ström, a collaboration between Ellevio, Vattenfall and us at Svenska kraftnät with the aim to reinforce the Stockholm region's electricity grid. Together, we are building a new structure for the grid to meet the region's growing need for electricity.

Consultation on expansion plans in the spring

In june 2015 we started consultations with stakeholders to inform about the proposed electricity connection and receive input on our expansion plans.

Preliminary time plan for start of construction

Currently construction is expected to start in 2019 and commissioning is expected in 2021. Time for the start of construction as well as commissioning are dependent on when the concession is granted.

City Link –electricity’s new highway

An important part of Stockholms Ström is the new electricity connection City Link built in four stages. Örby - Snösätra is part of the third phase, which extends between the stations Skanstull and Snösätra. City Link will connect the northern and southern Stockholm area - from Hagby in Upplands Väsby to Ekudden in Huddinge. When City Link is finished, electricity can be fed from several directions in the Stockholm area. It secures the electricity supply for the future.
