Rules regarding naming prequalification applications

For over a year now, Svenska kraftnät has had a significantly increased interest in delivering ancillary services. As part of this, a number of streamlinings of the prequalification process are being implemented, which results in new rules regarding the naming of units/groups.

Svenska kraftnät sees the increased interest in delivering ancillary services as very positive. Earlier this year, it was announced that Svenska kraftnät is working to streamline the prequalification process. The measures that have already been implemented include, for example, work on an updated and improved analysis tool for FCR and clarified external information. Svenska kraftnät sees that something that will further streamline the administration and processing of prequalifications is clearer rules regarding the naming of units/groups in applications.

The new rules mean that the name for the unit/group should be chosen as follows: 

  1. BSP/BRP/subcontractor name shall not be included in the name.
  2. Uniquely chosen per application unless it is a renewed assessment; in which case the name should be reused from the previous application. Should the name not comply with rules 1-5, it should be chosen according to the new rules.
  3. Selected in the same way between different ancillary services and the name shall not include the ancillary service.
  4. The applied capacity shall not be included in the name.
  5. Control method (local/central) shall not be included in the name.

What does this mean for you as an actor?

  • Updated application forms: Application forms for all ancillary services are updated with rules regarding naming of units/groups that the actor is expected to follow.
  • Possible feedback from Svenska kraftnät in processing: If rules have not been followed in a new version of the application form from the date it is published, Svenska kraftnät will provide feedback that the name of the unit/group needs to be adjusted.
  • Increased efficiency: The aim is to improve the processing process and thereby facilitate actors' participation in the support service markets.

Upcoming work: Facilitating reassessment

Svenska kraftnät is reviewing the process for actors to conduct reassessment of applications. This will lead to a more efficient prequalification process overall and have a positive impact on the overall expected processing time.
