How does the Nordic Balancing Model (NBM) impact today’s aFRR?

In the coming years, aFRR will undergo a number of major changes. This applies to dimensioning – i.e. the volume required per bidding area and hour – as well as how the procurement will take place.

In the longer term, the basis for calculation of control signals (from frequency deviation to imbalance per area) will also change, and aFRR will also be cleared in an energy activation market prior to the next delivery period.
